Improving the Patient Experience with Longer Wear Infusion Sets Symposium

Insulin pumps are an important tool for diabetes therapy. These devices depend on effective insulin infusion sets, but these sets can create a burden because of skin irritation and a need for frequent replacement. New technology can greatly reduce the burden so that infusion sets can provide both improved functionality and user satisfaction.

The objectives of the “IMPROVING THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE WITH LONGER WEAR INFUSION SETS” symposium are to answer:

  1. Why are current insulin infusion sets challenging the use of insulin pump therapy?
  2. Which technologies can maintain insulin stability, as well as increase infusion set wear-time?
  3. How can industry and academia improve the user experience and decrease disposables waste for patients using pump therapy?

Diabetes Technology Society invites healthcare professionals to hear a discussion by seven insulin pump experts from medicine, pediatrics, and engineering about recent advances in technology for insulin sets.
