Kristen Kulasa, MD

Dr. Kulasa is a Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the UC San Diego Health Medical Center in San Diego, California. Her clinical practice focuses on caring for inpatients with diabetes and ensuring they have optimal blood sugar levels during their hospital stay. As the Director of Inpatient Glycemic Control, she oversees the Clinical Diabetes Nurse Educators and leads the inpatient Glycemic Control Committee. In addition, she serves as the Medical Director of the outpatient Clinical Diabetes Center and is Co-Chief of the Division of Endocrinology. In these roles, she is working to help re-vamp diabetes care across the institution and working closely with primary care and population health to develop tools, clinical pathways and provide resources to help ensure all patients with diabetes at UC San Diego Health receive high quality and personalized care.

Dr. Kulasa earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UC San Diego.
