Shichun Bao, MD PhD

Dr. Shichun Bao received her medical degree in 1989 from Shanghai Medical University, China. She also received a PhD degree in 1997 from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, with special interest in diabetes pathophysiology. She subsequently worked as a post-doctoral fellow and clinical associate at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, focusing on diabetes clinical research and clinical trials. Dr. Bao completed her internal medicine residency training in 2002 at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She then completed her Endocrine fellowship training in 2005 at Vanderbilt University. She has been a clinical faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2005. She is currently an Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She started the Vanderbilt Diabetes Technology Program in early 2017 and has been serving as the Vanderbilt Diabetes Technology Program Leader since then. She has a very busy clinical practice, with special interest in diabetes technology and diabetes care, in both outpatient and hospital settings. Dr. Bao also conducts clinical research, has been the principal investigator of multiple diabetes drug trials and diabetes device trials.
