Theocharis Koufakis, MD, PhD

Dr. Theocharis Koufakis holds a Medical Degree from the Aristotle University and a Ph.D. in Genetic Epidemiology from Medical School, University of Thessaly, Greece. He completed his specialty training in Internal Medicine at the General Hospital of Larissa, Greece and received post-graduate training in diabetes at King’s College Hospital, London, UK and Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece. He is a certified diabetologist by the Greek Ministry of Health. At present, he is an Academic Fellow at Diabetes Center, First Department of Internal Medicine, Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he does clinical, research and teaching work. He is an author and coauthor of 88 articles in PubMed-indexed journals and 81 abstracts in national and international conferences. His main research interests include diabetes mellitus, genetic association studies, and the effects of religious fasting on human health.
