Joseph Aloi, MD
Wake Forest Baptist Health, Winston-Salem, North Carolina

I am the current Section Chief for the Endocrinology & Metabolism Division of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. I began my interest in clinical research while working as a research chemist at the National Institutes of Health in the 1980s. I pursued a degree in Medicine at the George Washington School of Medicine before moving to the University of Virginia where I completed my residency and fellowship training. I remained as faculty at the University of Virginia for ~ 15 years before taking the position of Clinical Director of the Strelitz Diabetes Center/Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS)  – where I expanded my interest in leveraging technology to help improve the delivery of healthcare to persons with diabetes.  It was at EVMS that I focused my interests and research on improving inpatient glucose management and developing pathways to enhance diabetes care delivery remotely. I have been at Wake Forest for more than 6 years now and have the same passion for helping to improve the care of persons with diabetes and training our next generation of health care providers.
