Roma Gianchandani, Professor of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes (MEND) and Director of the Hospital Intensive Insulin Program (HIIP), and Associate Vice Chair for Quality and Innovation.

In 2004, Dr. Gianchandani established the Hospital Intensive Insulin Program at the University of Michigan (MM) to closely monitor and treat glucose in hospital inpatients. Dr. Gianchandani was inducted into the Department of Internal Medicine’s Clinical Excellence Society, Academiae Laureati Medici, in its inaugural year. Clinical interests include hospital diabetes management, intensive insulin therapy, diabetes technology and thyroid disease. Her research has focused on outcomes of inpatient blood glucose management programs and the technological aspects of intravenous insulin delivery and glucose sensing, among other topics. She received her medical degree in Bombay, India, and held internships in India and Germany before beginning her residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit and fellowship at the University of Michigan, She is the Chair of the P& T glycemic subcommittee at MM and the QISC committee of the Endocrine society.
