Rolf Hinzmann, MD, PhD

Rolf Hinzmann studied biochemistry at the University of Hannover, Germany, and completed his PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute for Experimental Endocrinology in 1989. Thereafter, he studied medicine at Hannover Medical University and specialized in clinical pathology (“laboratory medicine”). In 1996, he moved to the in vitro diagnostic (IVD) industry and worked as a European Scientific Marketing Manager for Beckman Coulter. Later he became Medical Director of Sysmex Europe. In 2010 he moved to Roche Diabetes Care where he is currently Head of Medical Science, Global Medical Affairs. He has been an officer at the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) since 25 years, having represented the IVD industry in IFCC’s Executive Board for 6 years. Currently, he is member of IFCC's Working Group on Continuous Glucose Monitoring. His interests are laboratory medicine, traceability, measurement technologies, haematology, diabetology, glucose monitoring, methods to influence patient behaviour, and didactics in medicine.
