Jeffrey I Joseph, DO has worked as a clinical anesthesiologist and a research scientist at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA for 36 years.  He is currently a Professor of Anesthesiology and Vice-Chairman/Director of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology.  Dr. Joseph co-founded Animas Corporation in 1996 to develop and commercialize an implantable continuous glucose monitoring system (CGM) and automated insulin delivery system. He then founded the Jefferson Artificial Pancreas Center to coordinate the development and testing of CGM and insulin pump technologies for hospitalized patients and people with diabetes. Animas had a successful IPO (NASDAQ- “PUMP”) and was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2006.  Dr. Joseph has continued to help develop and test medical devices for a variety of industry and academic collaborators.  He co-founded Capillary Biomedical, Inc. in 2014 to develop and commercialize a novel CGM system and  insulin infusion set that provides reliable function and consistent dose to dose insulin absorption for more than 7 days. Dr. Joseph also co-founded RTM Vital Signs, LLC in 2014 to develop wearable and implantable vital sign monitoring systems with real-time diagnostic algorithms.
