Howard Wolpert, MD

Dr. Wolpert joined the Lilly Innovation Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts as Vice President for Medical Innovation in July 2016 after 25 years on the faculty at Joslin Diabetes Center/Harvard Medical School. In his current position he is medical lead for the Lilly Connected Care initiative, and directs research and development programs on the use of digital health technology in diabetes care. While at Joslin he established both the Insulin Pump and CGM Programs, and was PI in several major multi-center randomized trials evaluating the use of diabetes technology. In 2014 he was the recipient of the Nancy Jones Diabetes Research Champion Award from the JDRF in recognition of his contributions to the adoption of technology into diabetes care. He is author of a book on insulin pump therapy published by the ADA, lead author of the section on CGM use in the Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guidelines, and editor of the 2016 edition of the ADA book on Intensive Diabetes Management.
