Hubert W. Vesper, Ph.D., is the director of the Clinical Standardization Programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC). In this function, he leads national and international activities to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of selected chronic diseases through laboratory standardization. He is operating the CDC clinical reference laboratories for chronic disease biomarkers, and leads major research projects on disease and other biomarker levels in the U.S. population and special health studies. Dr. Vesper provides technical assistance and consultation on clinical laboratory standardization and laboratory testing to national and international organizations such as the College of American Pathologists. As co-chair of the Partnership for the Accurate Testing of Hormones (PATH), he coordinates educational activities among its 17 stakeholder organizations on clinical testing quality and standardization.
