Robert Schumm, MBA
President, Ascensia Diabetes Care, Basel, Switzerland

Rob is President of Ascensia Diabetes Care, a company in the PHC Group and formerly the diabetes care division of Bayer AG which was acquired in 2016. He also leads the Diabetes Management Domain for PHC Group, which also includes the diabetes related business at PHC.

Rob has over 30 years of experience in marketing and strategy development in the consumer health and medical device industries. Prior to his current role at Ascensia, Rob held positions as the Head of the BGM Mature Business Unit and President of Ascensia Diabetes Care US, Inc., the US division of Ascensia.

Before the divestiture he was VP, Global Marketing at Bayer Diabetes Care and held leadership positions in both the medical device and OTC pharmaceutical businesses during his nearly 20 years at Bayer. His accomplishments include the development and introduction of several innovative new blood glucose monitoring devices and OTC products, as well as the development of award-winning DTC and professional advertising campaigns. He is an advisory board member of Rutgers University’s Center for Disruptive Innovation.

Prior to joining Bayer, Rob worked at Schering-Plough HealthCare Products and Sterling Drug where he held various roles in brand management, new business development and market research.

Rob holds a bachelor’s degree in neuropsychology from Princeton University and an M.B.A. in Marketing and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is married with two children and currently lives in Arlesheim, Switzerland.
