Dr. Mercedes Rigla is the Head of Endocrinology and Nutrition Department at Parc Tauli University Hospital in Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain) and an Assistant Professor in Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. For more than 12 years, her team has worked in cooperation with the Bioengineering and Telemedicine Group of the Polytechnical University of Madrid. Her main fields of interest are artificial pancreas algorithms, glucose sensors inflammatory impact on s.c. tissue, and decision support systems based on artificial intelligence methods. She has participated in several EU funded Research Projects related to diabetes and technology. She and her team have produced over 70 publications, most of them on smart telemedicine.
