At Medtronic Diabetes, Pratik leads the R&D strategy and roadmap for data science and informatics across the Diabetes Group. He is responsible for directing the company’s technology pipeline and developing products that use data science and artificial intelligence to achieve patient outcomes and simplify diabetes management. This includes projects associated with algorithm development and analytics of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pump information and other internal and external patient data from electronic medical records, wearable sensors and claims databases.

Pratik joined Medtronic in 2010 during which he has been responsible for establishing and leading a data science team that is responsible for big data, predictive analytics and informatics efforts across the Diabetes Group. Pratik has played central role in the development of the Sugar.IQ smart diabetes personal assistant mobile application that was developed in partnership with IBM Watson. He also led the creation of decision support algorithms using statistical pattern recognition techniques for effective therapy management of type 2 patients.

Pratik earned a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in biotechnology from the Vellore Institute of technology in Vellore, India.
