Yongjin Xu joined Abbot in 2016. He focus on real-world data analysis, sensor accuracy, mechanistic understanding of glucose related diabetes biomarkers and clinical trial strategy and design.

His major areas of expertise are computational chemistry and computational biology, data analysis with machine learning/artificial intelligence, and diabetes clinical research around glucose monitoring. He spearheaded the analyses of the real-world data collected from the FreeStyle Libre for meaningful insights key to supporting clinical trial findings. Before Abbott, he worked for Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, and Pharmacia.

Yongjin Xu earned his PhD degree in organic chemistry and an MS degree in computer science from State University of New York at Albany. He holds a BS degree in polymer chemistry from Fudan University. Between undergraduate and graduate studies, he was a research associate working on transition metal organometallic chemistry with Chinese Academy of Science.
