Claudio Cobelli, PhD

Claudio Cobelli (S’67-M’70-SM’97-Fellow 2003) is Full Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University of Padova since 1981. He was Chairman of the Graduate Program and of the Ph.D. Program in Bioengineering at University of Padova (2000-2011). His main research activity is in modeling and identification of physiological systems, especially the glucose system in diabetes. His research is currently supported by NIH, JDRF and EU. He has published 532 papers in internationally refereed journals, co-author of 8 books and holds 10 patents with an h-index of 81 (Scopus) and 101 (Google). He serves as Associate Editor of IEEE TBME and Journal of Diabetes Science & Technology and is on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics. He was Chairman (1999-2004) of the Italian Biomedical Engineering Group, Chairman (1990-1996) of IFAC TC on Modeling and Control of Biomedical Systems. He is Fellow of IEEE and BMES and was awarded with the Diabetes Technology Artificial Pancreas Research Award in 2010.
