Kong obtained his BS in mechanical engineering (Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville Tennessee), PhD in biomedical engineering and MS in clinical investigation (Vanderbilt University, Nashville Tennessee). His research focus has been developing innovative technologies for measuring human energy expenditure, physical activity, fitness, autonomic nervous system activity, and body composition in healthy subjects and in patients with metabolic diseases. His lab now focuses in clinical and translational obesity research. Kong has published 90+ peer-reviewed manuscripts and is also collaborating with scientists in the US and around the world.
