Charlene C. Quinn, RN, PhD, FAAN

Dr. Quinn is an experienced geriatric nurse, with training from Duke University, University of Maryland, and Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. A former White House Fellow and senior Federal executive she has extensive government, business, and research experience in gerontology, health policy and health delivery technologies. The focus of her funded research is the development of new approaches to the treatment of chronic diseases and conditions common among older adults. Dr. Quinn collaborates with private sector companies (start-ups to publically-traded) and long-term care, health care systems and insurers to evaluate mobile and telehealth interventions. Dr. Quinn’s research team reported one of the first randomized clinical trials of mobile (phone) diabetes management for persons with Type 2 diabetes treated by community providers. She has been recognized by the Director of NIH as a pioneer in behavior science research. Dr. Quinn’s current work focuses on technology applications in patient-caregiver engagement, palliative care, diabetes management, and interventions to prevent unnecessary hospitalization of older adults. Dr. Quinn is a member of the University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty, teaching health policy and policies of aging for multidisciplinary students.
