Joel Goldsmith

Joel Goldsmith is senior director of Digital Platforms for Abbott's diabetes care business. Joel is part of a team that identifies, evaluates, and advances new products from conception through design and development, with the goal of helping improve the lives of people with diabetes. A self-described "product purist" with expertise in user experience (UX) research and user-centered design, Joel focuses on leveraging the power of new technologies to create products and services that improve lives. 

Joel is applying his expertise at Abbott to advance the use of sensing technologies for people with diabetes. He is the product lead for a series of diabetes care products, including the FreeStyle Libre system, a sensor-based glucose-monitoring solution that's disrupting the glucose-monitoring category.

Joel earned a bachelor's degree in neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania,an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a Biodesign Innovation Fellow at Stanford.
