Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, USA
Dr. Andy Lee is the Director of Specialty Care at the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center, the largest medical center in the Los Angeles County Healthcare Network. In 2007, he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Endocrinology at LAC+USC Medical Center. Thereafter, he remained as a full time teaching faculty and practicing endocrinologist for Keck Medical Center at the University of Southern California. In 2013, Los Angeles County was overhauling the healthcare system through the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Dr. Lee was recruited to lead as the director of specialty care for LAC+USC Medical Center and other county-wide healthcare committees. In this role, he transformed specialty care from a fragmented, volume-based organization into a modern, integrated value-based healthcare system. Dr. Lee has a long background in evaluating innovation readiness and adoption: In 2012, he was one of the founding board member of the Center for Interactive Media Technologies in Healthcare at USC, which later consolidated to the USC mHealth Collaboratory with the mission of bringing together researchers and partners from across University of Southern California and beyond to lead advances in research, well-being and health care through mobile strategies. In 2016 in partnership with the California Health Care Foundation, Los Angeles County Health Agency, and UCSF Healthforce Center, he built a Medical Innovation Incubator(Mii) within the Los Angeles County Healthcare System. This unit provided a new model for designing and accelerating innovation within the second largest government-run healthcare system in the United States. This achievement was recognized by the LA County Productivity and Quality Commission for its positive impact for residents of Los Angeles County.
