Zoltan Antal, MD

Dr. Zoltan Antal graduated from St George’s University School of Medicine, completed residency at SUNY Downstate / Kings County Hospital, pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and joined Weill Cornell Medicine Pediatric Endocrinology in 2009. He is currently the division chief of Pediatric Endocrinology and co-directs the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Weill Cornell. Clinically, his focus within diabetes care is in type 1 diabetes, including strengthening the clinical care for children using the most advanced technology tools available. Academically, he is involved in translational research in type 1 diabetes, including collaborations with researchers in their institution studying stem cell development and the pathophysiology underlying development of diabetic retinopathy. Additional clinical and research interests include assessment and management of anxiety in type 1 diabetes and using simulation for educating trainees in managing acute hyperglycemic emergencies. He is also a member of the pediatric long term follow-up team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, caring for diabetes, hyperglycemia, and other endocrine disorders in child cancer survivors.
